Gregg Mesmer & Diane Bonciolini

MESOLINI GLASS STUDIO

Mesmer & Bonciolini, have worked in glass since 1974, where they began their careers in a Seattle glass studio.

In 1977 as collaborators, (Mesmer/Bonciolini) formed Mesolini Glass Studio, on Bainbridge Island, in Washington State. In 1979 they married and are now proud parents of two young men.

The techniques they use are varied and include, kiln fired glass, stained glass, carved glass, lampworking, and cement & glass. ‘Self-taught’, best describes their artistic pursuits, using trial and error to guide them through various processes, while discovering new techniques along the way. Their work can be found in, residential, educational, liturgical and commercial environments.

Concrete & glass walking surfaces, like the ‘Beach Glass Quilt’, ‘The Bainbridge Island Map’ and fused glass murals with school children round out their expertise. They are most known for their functional line of dishware that is in galleries across the country, visually recognized by their Trademarked ‘live’ edge, their dishware has graced the cover of Food & Wine and other publications through the years.

Glass continues to inspire them, continually discovering new directions and mastering new techniques.

“Living on Bainbridge Island affects our work in many ways, the beautiful surroundings, a supportive community and friendships with the amazing artists & patrons who live here. Our work is a result of these many influences. “

In January 2015, Arts & Humanities Bainbridge, recognizing their community service in the Arts, awarded them the honor of ‘Island Treasures’.
