An exploration in the art of letting go.

Blending the whimsical with a zen-influenced “art of letting go,” inspires Melody’s mixed media, washi tape art. The art changes with the lighting, the angle, and over time, gives into the truth that nothing is permanent. Melody explores the multifaceted nature that makes up her subjects while adding a 3D effect to her work by cutting the washi tape into tiny pieces and layering them.

Have you never heard of washi tape? It is a decorative paper masking tape – thin, durable, made of natural fibers like hemp and bamboo, and comes in hundreds of colors and patterns. Washi tape, mixed media art, allows Melody to share that there are no mistakes in art, only opportunities for doing something different.

Melody lives and creates on Bainbridge Island, Washington. You may find her work online at her website melodylovesthis.com and in-person at the Bainbridge Island Studio Tour.
