Island band Ranger and the “Re-Arranger” hosts two hours of Hot Club Swing music with guest Seattle violinist Julian Smedley .
Hot Club Swing, which combines jazz with French and Romani influences, was pioneered by the Quintet of the Hot Club of France in the 1930's. The band featured two outstanding soloists, Django Reinhardt on guitar and Stephane Grappelli on violinist. This concert feature two of the top violinists in the genre today, islander Ranger Sciacca and Julian Smedley. Julian has enjoyed a long and highly accomplished career as a professional violinist beginning in his native England. He performed regularly on the BBC and was a member of the Hot Club of San Francisco.
