After a 3-year pandemic hiatus, BI Parks and their partners are back hosting Martin Luther King Jr Day of Service at Blakely Harbor Park. Join in on January 16th from 10a-1p working on conservation tasks for all ages.
Restoration at Blakely Harbor Park has involved thousands of volunteer hours, thousands of native plants, and years of dedicated hard work. Once the site of the largest mill in the world Blakely Harbor is now a much beloved park, connecting to miles of trails and hosting beach access and a birding blind. But restoration work is ongoing with young native plants to care for and plenty of invasive weeds yet to remove.
After a three-year pandemic hiatus BI Parks and its partners, including Blakely Harbor Park’s neighbor IslandWood, and Sustainable Bainbridge and the BI Parks and Trails Foundation, are back hosting the annual Martin Luther King Jr Day of Service. From 10a-1p on Monday, January 16th volunteers come together to make this day of service a “day on not a day off.”
