BARN Makers: BARN Bites Meal Program

BARN Makers: BARN Bites Meal Program

Presented by Bainbridge Artisan Resource Network (BARN) at BARN

Each week since the beginning of April, a crew of volunteers has prepped, cooked and packaged nearly 200 meals. There's a new menu every week. The food is distributed outside BARN's front door every Friday afternoon, and through partnerships with Island Volunteer Caregivers, Helpline House, the Senior Center and Interfaith Council. Other local businesses have pitched in to help. Town & Country Market and Thuy's donated to-go containers, Safeway donated the shopping bags the food is distributed in, and Helpline House has donated food staples such as rice, pasta and spices. "Everyone is really reaching out and helping each other right now," Males said.

The community has been generous with donations through BARN's website to help pay for food. The program curre ntly has enough funds to continue through mid-May. Donations to extend the program are still welcome. Fifty 3-meal packs are distributed at BARN each Friday, with vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.

If you would like to be added to the list (first come first served) you can sign up here.
