Seattle Rocks: The Grunge Years. Photographs by Steve Schneider

at Jeffrey Moose Gallery

Jeffrey Moose Gallery returns the thrilling Rock and Roll photographs of Steve Schneider to the gallery walls from May 3rd to June 30th. "Seattle Rocks: The Grunge Years" features photos of Nirvana, Soundgarden and Pearl Jam . A reception will be held on First Friday, June 7th from 6 to 8 PM. The public is invited to attend in appropriate Grunge attire.

Bainbridge Island, home to seminal Hair/Metal band Mother Love Bone front man Andrew Wood, is a perfect place to stage this show as members of that band went on to form Pearl Jam and work with Chris Cornell of Soundgarden to record Temple of the Dog, a tribute to Wood.

In the space of less than a week, Mr. Schneider managed to shoot two crucial 1993 shows by Pearl Jam and Nirvana; Pearl Jam at Mercer Arena, December 7th and Nirvana, December 13th at an MTV fake New Year's Eve show staged in a Pier 48 warehouse. With UPI credentials in hand and a looser photo access policy than exists today, he got to the edge of the stage with his arsenal of cameras, shooting riveting pics of Seattle's bad boys. Also showing are images of Paramount Theatre shows by Soundgarden, March 5th 1992 and a post-reunion show in 2013.

Mr. Schneider's career has included stints working for UPI, Gannett News Service, Reuters, and Sipa Press as well as long-term commitments to corporate assignments and conventions. He also travels annually with several associations such as the National League of Cities, American Thoracic Society, and National Association for Independent Schools.

His work has appeared in various publications including TIME magazine, Newsweek Magazine and Modern Drummer as well as numerous books and calendars.
