Step into audio drama with Brian Martinez Oldham, who will begin with a brief introduction to audio drama: what it is (and isn’t).
You’ll spend time in a discussion about writing for audio. The conversation will include the building blocks of an audio drama script, the strengths and challenges of the audio medium, handling the quirks of genre or adaptation, and software for writing an audio script.
You’ll learn about performance and recording, including how the different artistic collaborators work together, both live and remote.
Questions and dialog will be welcome throughout, and by the end, participants will be on their way to writing their own audio script.
Brian Martinez Oldham's first memory involves listening to a radio, and he feels blessed to have been a child when the airwaves carried a mix of classic radio theater and news shows. He stumbled into online audio drama in 2007, first as a listener and later as a playwright.
Brian is the author of over fifty produced audio dramas, including the award-winning "Time's Quartet." He plays in varied genres, but is most at-home with magical realism, and believes that character is the heart of story.
Brian's calling is helping others on their journeys as storytellers, which lead him to create “Audio Drama Thoughts," a guide for writing audio scripts. You may find it, and more of his work, here.
