BAINBRIDGE PERFORMING ARTS BRINGS SHAKESPEARE BACK TO BLOEDEL RESERVE WITH “THE COMEDY OF ERRORS”

The partnership between BPA and Bloedel Reserve is back - and better than ever - with William Shakespeare’s “The Comedy of Errors” playing June 16th through July 3rd, Thursdays through Sundays at 7 PM.

This year, audiences will be treated to a new setting at the reserve. The stage has meandered from its previous location in the sheep meadow to the spectacular sprawling lawn of the residence itself with actors making use of the beautiful home as part of the set of this hilarious farce.

One of William Shakespeare's early plays, “The Comedy of Errors” is his shortest and most farcical comedy, with a major part of the humor coming from slapstick and mistaken identity, in addition to puns and word play. After both being separated from their twins in a shipwreck, Antiphonus searches for his long lost identical twin brother, Antiphonus, while his servant, Dromio, searches for his long lost identical twin brother, Dromio. The other set of twins lives in Ephesus, and the new arrivals cause a series of incidents of mistaken identity. Shenanigans ensue.

Directed by Kristi Ann Jacobson, who frequently helms BPA’s Shakespearean ventures, the cast features Kelli McAuley, Kristin Guy, Katie Sweeney, Amanda Guntgsell, Chapple Langemack, Will Langemack, Amy Jo LaRubbio, Terry McAuley, Cynthia Jacobs, Pete Simpson, Emily Lacroix, Gary Fetterplace, and Ezra Osburn.

BPA’s “The Comedy of Errors” is sponsored by Merrill Lynch Wealth Management. Tickets are available at bainbridgeperformingarts.org with general admission tickets at $30 and Senior/Military/Child Tickets at $25.

Patrons are advised to bring low lawn chairs or blankets. Staff members will assist patrons upon their arrival at the Residence. Seating on blankets will be in front; seating on low chairs behind blankets, elevated chairs will be in rear. Space is limited, and seating is first come first served. As there is no ADA parking close to the stage, patrons requiring handicap access can make use of a Shuttle drop, please let the parking attendant know upon arrival. Whether under sunny or cloudy skies, The Bard at Bloedel will be “DRY” per regulations under the Washington State Liquor & Cannabis Board. Wine and beer will not be available for purchase on site and no alcohol may be brought in by patrons. Picnics will be permitted after 6pm in the area designated for performance only.
