The concert includes works by a variety of composers and styles spanning the centuries, from the Renaissance to the 21st century, culminating in the world premiere performance of a new work by the Chorale’s Artistic Director Michael Austin Miller. A highlight will be a performance of Mark Burrows’ arrangement of the haunting Ukrainian lullaby Oy Khodyt Son (The Dream Passes by the Window,) a meditation on a journey through the long cold night to bring rest to the Christ Child. This arrangement was generously made available at no charge by the composer in support of the Ukrainian people, with the suggestion that a donation be made to a Ukrainian charity in lieu of payment for the use of the music.

The concert will close with Director Miller’s The Angels Sang. You’ll enjoy a different take on the traditional Christmas story of the angels announcing the birth of the Christ Child, described by the composer as ”ethereal with a driving bass line.”
