Join BI Reads for Justice for a film screening, “Roosevelt High School: Beyond Black and White” on Sunday February 12 from 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art. We will learn more about 50 years of race reform at Seattle’s Roosevelt High School and how we all can do better. There will be a panel of Islanders to discuss how race has impacted our local schools and community.
The City of Bainbridge Island, with its Race Equity Advisory Committee launched BI Reads for Justice in October, a six-month, all-community reads program running through March 2023. The community is invited to read the first book in the program, “Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You: A Remix of the National Book Award-winning Stamped from the Beginning” by Jason Reynolds and Ibram X. Kendi.
