Birds and Blooms Walk at Springbrook Creek Preserve

Birds and Blooms Walk at Springbrook Creek Preserve

Presented by Bainbridge Island Land Trust at Springbrook Creek Preserve

Whether bird or bloom, species composition and diversity are great indicators of ecosystem health. Ecosystems with higher species diversity are more resilient to disturbance and change. We invite you to join us as we take an inventory of the bird and plant species at the newly acquired Springbrook Creek Preserve.

Our Field Research and Education Coordinator, Fawn Wagner, will be leading the walk with help from volunteer Jason Descombaz. Fawn has several years of experience working with wildlife on Bainbridge Island with a particular interest in bird species. Jason has a Bachelor of Science in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology with an emphasis on native plant species and provides consultations on native plant gardens. Our naturalists will provide species identification tips and information on species’ natural histories.

We will offer two Bird and Bloom guided walks on May 20th from 9:00am-10:30am and 11:00am-12:30pm. Each walk will be limited to 15 registered participants. Pre-registration is required. Parking logistics will be sent to registered participants. Participants should plan to dress for the weather, wear waterproof shoes, and bring field guides and binoculars. We will have some field guides and binoculars available for use.
