BISD Multicultural Advisory Council (MAC) hosts a free community Salon Night to view the film Promised Land, an award-winning documentary about tribal rights in the PNW.
Told by Chief Seattle’s descendant and other leaders from the Duwamish Tribe and the Chinook Nation, Promised Land follows their fight to restore treaty rights that they’ve long been denied. Promised Land reminds viewers that this struggle is not just about the Pacific Northwest. Countless tribes are experiencing this same fight over tribal sovereignty, identity and blood quantum all over the world.
Part of BISD’s 2019-2020 Salon Series. Join us to watch a film as a community & share in an open conversation following the movie. This is a free event, open to all, located at the Bainbridge Island High School Library.
