BISD’s Multicultural Advisory Council (MAC) hosts a free community Salon Night to view the documentary Big Sonia
Big Sonia is a documentary about Sonia Warshawski -- over 90 years old, a business owner, and one of the last remaining Holocaust survivors in Kansas City. Not just about surviving war, this poignant film is also about living with trauma, discrimination and inter-generational communication.
Salon Nights bring community members together so that we can discuss our thoughts about issues related to social justice and diversity of human experience, both of which are main concerns of MAC. We just talk, listen, question, and share as we puzzle through these challenging issues - together. Our starting points for discussion are documentaries. Please join us. All films are free. All members of the community are encouraged to attend. Students are welcome.
