Following three sold out productions, the Irish Play Series returns with Enda Walsh’s award winning play “The New Electric Ballroom”. Directed by Wilson Milam.
In an isolated fishing village on the west coast of Ireland, three "elderly" sisters re-enact a pivotal night at the New Electric Ballroom where they vied for the attention of Roller Royle, the show band's seductive lead singer. Grudges resurface, insults bandied, and food items fly through the air-- only the appearance of a lonely fishmonger bearing fish prevents an all-out showdown.
Funny, tender-hearted and at times pitch dark.
"I imagined these women transforming themselves into their 18-year-old selves. Ive always liked characters to perform. I think it goes back to that Irish thing, you know, Get up and do something! Show something of yourself!"
"In the end, I write simply about love. Its in every bloody play."
