Hidden Brain– The calming voice of host Shankar Vedantam takes a social science perspective of the human condition through stories and research. I believe staying curious makes us resilient. I was an advertising major and sociology minor at University, so that’s probably why I like this podcast. The variety of episodes, research and interesting human interest keeps me coming back.

Don’t let that this podcast is produced by LinkedIn fool you to think it’s a commercial in any way.  I love the authentic nature the host Jessi Hempel brings to every conversation. about the changing face of leadership and the workplace. My Mondays are a whole lot better having her in my ears.

She has interesting guests who share everything from being a better communicator to tackling fear, each episode taking on the tone of her book, “Everything is Figureoutable”. I feel recharged and ready to go after I have listened to an episode.

Cy to Eye– This podcast is targeted to leaders working in art nonprofits. I find learning about different nonprofit industries gives me a deeper connection to my work. I find the episodes are applicable across any nonprofit, it’s how the application is being shared, which helps me grow in so many ways.

For 20 years, Lisa Sheffer has been successful at providing social marketing, development and management of transportation programs for businesses, non-governmental organizations and colleges and universities. Lisa works as the Marketing and Development Director with Bainbridge Island Parks Foundation and is the new host of BCB: The Voices of Bainbridge Island podcast. Lisa has worked at Urban Land Institute Northwest as the region’s Manager developing and coordinating regional capacity between the Seattle and Portland metropolitan regions. Prior to this, Lisa held an Executive Director role for eight years with Feet First a statewide nonprofit working to ensure all communities in Washington are walkable through advocacy, education and encouragement programs. Lisa has served as a board member for Washington State Ridesharing Organization, Bike Works, and the Alliance for Biking and Walking. Lisa lives on Bainbridge Island and enjoys spending time outside running, walking, gardening and exploring new places with her husband and their 2 year old daughter.
