The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on our community is unprecedented. Once lively and populated, our schools, recreation and community centers, cultural hubs, and many businesses are closed. The pandemic has changed the way we work, study, communicate, socialize, shop, study, travel, seek health care, and play.

Bainbridge Islanders have demonstrated remarkable courage, creativity, and cooperation to protect and support each other. Yet, our current reality will one day be our collective past. At the Bainbridge Island Historical Museum, we recognize our unique responsibility as the historians of this moment in time. We are actively documenting and collecting materials related to the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic experience on Bainbridge Island.

The Museum is looking for photographs, personal items made or purchased to adapt to the quarantine, and visual or written creative expressions about the pandemic. Have a high school student at home? Encourage them to document and share stories about your family’s experience during the pandemic.

If you have something to donate to the Museum collection, please email Merilee Mostov, Director of Exhibits & Engagement, at merilee@bainbridgehistory.org. Due to a high volume of response, it may take up to two weeks to receive a response. Since the Museum is currently closed to the public, please do not mail or drop off materials at this time.
