During recent weeks, we have been experiencing in a variety of ways — seeing, hearing, reading, watching — overwhelmingly savage events which are unprecedented in their violence and inhumanity. As these happenings continue, Arts & Humanities Bainbridge (AHB) would like to focus on the “humanities” part of our name, specifically what it means to be human and to support more effective, empathetic social change.

The humanities encourage us to be resourceful and to find ways to connect across our differences. With this in mind, AHB invites you to think about what that means to you. We are inviting our island community to share — in whatever creative form that may take — what you have been experiencing and what these experiences have meant to you. The act of creating and making art is a unique phenomenon amongst the human species. We can utilize this skill to recreate our external observations and personal interpretations of the world.

Our organization’s mission is to “connect you to the abundance of creativity in our community, to empower and inspire.” We need inspiration now more than ever. By looking to one another and sharing, it will be possible to build social resilience and learn to bend and not break during times of social conflict. Please share with us.
