Abba always gets it right.

Take a look at these lyrics to their song, “Thank You For the Music”:

So I say
Thank you for the music, the songs I'm singing
Thanks for all the joy they're bringing
Who can live without it? I ask in all honesty
What would life be?
Without a song or a dance, what are we?
So I say thank you for the music
For giving it to me

Currents Online exists because of the music you have shared with us. Your painting, writing, poetry, artistry, song, dance. Your music. Your creativity. For this, we say thank you.

As we celebrate Currents Online’s one year anniversary, we recognize that the idea of Currents was set in motion long before June 13, 2019. The community asked. Arts & Humanities Bainbridge answered. After countless forums, interviews, questionnaires, you told us that this community needed a central location for all things arts and culture. Enter Artsopolis. Founded by Jeff Trabucco, Artsopolis technology offers cities and organizations websites that highlight local events, artist profiles, organizations, arts in education, public art, and classifieds promoting jobs and auditions within the arts.

Artsopolis has given Bainbridge Island the resource that has connected all our creative endeavors “with one click, in one place, in real time.” An idea is only as useful as its utility. This community has embraced and utilized this vital resource. And we’re just getting started.

Last year we focused on sharing Bainbridge-centric arts and culture. As we celebrate this one year anniversary, Currents Online will be highlighting all Kitsap events:  Poulsbo, Silverdale, Bremerton, Port Angeles, etc. This offers our communities new avenues for creative connections.

We have received countless feedback from islanders throughout the year, most especially during our celebration concert held on June 26. We’d like to share some of these with you.

“Congratulations! Currents has been the best one stop shop online resource for all events in Bainbridge. You have helped amplify our voice, expand our resources and support shared opportunities. Currents Online is a tremendous gift that keeps giving to the community! A BIG thank you to the Arts & Humanities staff, board and volunteers for their vision to create an essential collaborative platform.”

Lisa Sheffer, BI Parks Foundation Marketing & Development Director

“Congratulations on Currents Online’s first anniversary! Thank you for bringing this collaborative, accessible and timely resource to our community. Not only has it strengthened partnerships between local organizations but it has also kept us inspired and connected through art and cultural experiences – which has been especially valuable during the recent challenging months. Here’s to many more years of creative collaborations that help us thrive!”

Krzysztofa McDonough, Raising Resilience President

One of my many functions is as a creator and coordinator of programs and events in the community. Currents Online makes my life easier by letting me advertise events on the website. The process is simple. The resource is free of charge and a great way to find out what’s happening on the island. Currents online is an indispensable community resource. Thank you AHB.
