2020 Winter Exhibition
December 5, 2020 – January 31, 2021

Plein Air Washington Artists (PAWA) presents PAWA 2020 Winter Exhibition. This year’s exhibition will be December 5, 2020 through January 31, 2021 at www.pleinairwashingtonartists.com . Traditionally an in-person gallery show, these unique times prompt the very first online gallery show for Plein Air Washington Artists. In keeping with tradition, the annual Winter Exhibition book will contain all submitted works for the show. The book is available for purchase during the show.

The exhibition provides original unframed artwork by PAWA members created in the spirit of plein air. Plein air, in French, simply means to paint in the fresh air. In the midst of COVID-19, the traditional group paint-outs PAWA organizes were modified to virtual paint outs, and small regional pop-up paint outs. Works from these events plus studio and field paintings are featured in this fine exhibition.

PAWA President Karen Bakke explains “Plein Air Washington Artists is proud to present our first online exhibition and corresponding fine art book. Our members continued to make meaningful art during these times and this exhibition represents the best art of PAWA.”

Patrons can purchase works conveniently from the PAWA website. All work in the show is sold unframed. Artwork will be shipped directly from the artist to the patron. All sale proceeds go directly to the artist, which allows patrons the unique opportunity to support the artists. “Sharing, promoting and supporting one another are a few of our core values as an organization,” adds Bakke.

Nationally known artist Dave Santillanes will be the judge of awards during the opening celebration of Plein Air Washington Artists 2020 Winter Exhibition. He will present his ribbon selections live open to the public via Zoom Webinar Saturday, December 5, 2020 from 4PM to 5PM. During this opening show celebration he’ll be expanding upon why each painting was chosen for their awards that include ‘Best of Show’ and our special award representing this year, titled ‘Best Expression of 2020’ and many more. All public and members are encouraged to participate in this opening reception and awards ceremony. To attend this event for free please email us for an RSVP at president@pleinairwashingtonartists.com. Santillanes will also be giving a live painting demonstration for PAWA members on December 12th, tickets and membership can be purchased on the PAWA website.
