Arts & Humanities Bainbridge (AHB) has announced the release of Michael Lisagor’s latest book, “Personal Growth in the Time of COVID: What we can learn from prominent artists, writers, philosophers & musicians”

(available as a paperback and for the Kindle on Amazon.com or download as a PDF).

This book contains numerous uplifting and entertaining life lessons from 34 well-known creative individuals that can help us do more than just survive these challenging times. Lisagor also interweaves with humor his own lifelong journey to manage anxiety, depression, and childhood trauma through Buddhism, psychotherapy, and a happy marriage.

Linda Semlitz, MD, President of the Board, AHB, has said, “As a practicing psychiatrist for over 35 years, I can attest to the importance of positive coping strategies in these challenging times. Mike has chosen explorers, healers, activists, and visionaries whose life stories inspire and give hope. These include Helen Keller, Leo Tolstoy, Louise Penny, Herbie Hancock, Byron Katie, Annie Leibovitz, Julie Andrews and Ansel Adams. Mike has extraordinary “mindsight” and is a wonderful storyteller.

Lisagor is donating all the book royalties to AHB.

During this prolonged period of isolation, I’ve read a number of eye-opening books….”The Sixth Extinction”, “Caste”, and Baldwin’s magnificent “The Fire Next Time”. Perhaps not the best choices for a restless night. Lately I’ve reached for a different kind of lesson in Michael Lisagor’s “Personal Growth in the Time of Covid”. The Buddhist infused wisdom of Daisaku Ikeda figures prominently, interspersed with very brief chapters containing highlights of the lives and thinking of 30 artists, writers, scientists, musicians, and historical giants–from Annie Leibovitz to Lily Tomlin, Georgia O’Keefe, Martin Luther King, Sir Isaac Newton, Bill Withers, Herbie Hancock, Tolstoy and more. There is wisdom to live by in this collection of stories and inspiring quotes, and commentary from the author on his own personal struggles. Lisagor’s new book is a powerful antidote to the disturbing realities of our current world. I woke up after one of these late night reads, on the tail end of a dream. I was standing tall in a landscape setting, wearing a white T-shirt with big bold letters on it that spelled out “PEACE LAKE”.
