Create Your Own Story Ballet is the ingenious creation from local artist Whitney Mayer, beloved Ballet Instructor with Bainbridge Dance Center.  When lockdown restrictions in 2020 brought dance classes online, Whitney adapted her plan to choreograph by designing a project for her young ballet students.  

She took inspiration from her own fond childhood memories, when she and her sister would plan elaborate ballet productions for their parents in the living room.  Whitney coached her students in writing their own original story, designing their costume, which included sketches and color samples, choreographing movement, choosing the music to fit the mood of the piece, and rehearsing and performing their dance.  

Tapping into the imaginative hearts and minds of our creative Bainbridge youth, Whitney is a prime example of how an artist can be adaptable, creative, and encouraging to other artists of all ages and stages in life.  Thank you Whitney!
