If your holiday plans call for getting away from the bright lights and big city this year, celebrating the season on Bainbridge Island offers visitors a wonderful way to experience a special kind of holiday magic, the Holidays on Bainbridge Island.

Just a 35-minute ferry ride from downtown Seattle, holiday merrymakers will find starry nights

(And no city lights!) in this charming island community which will be illuminated with activities the whole family will enjoy.

The holidays kick off the weekend following Thanksgiving with a series of events across the island. Saturday, November 27th, gather with locals for the Annual Tree Lighting in downtown Winslow. The historic downtown and original main street is lined with boutique retailers who dress up their storefronts for the traditional beginning of the holiday season. According to tradition, Santa has been known to arrive by firetruck just in time to light the downtown tree.

Chabad of Bainbridge Island and North Kitsap joins the Downtown Association in celebrating the Festival of Lights with the lighting of the community menorah nightly, November 28th – December 6th at Winslow Green.

For visitors planning a trip further into the season, Bainbridge Island boasts a festive calendar filled with seasonal events throughout the month of December. The annual Winter Studio Tour featuring crafts by Island artists will take place December 3rd through 5th in studios located around the community. Nature lovers are invited to bundle up and celebrate the holiday season at Winter in the Woods, an all-ages outdoor experience at Bloedel Reserve, December 4th through January 9, 2022. The 150-acre public garden and forest preserve invites guests to see the garden in its seasonal splendor with illuminated trails and imaginative woodland creatures.

Bainbridge Island Kids’ Discovery Museum, among the best Children’s Museums in the region, hosts the Holidays at KiDiMu for children through age 10 all month long. Pleasant Beach Village, located in the historic Lynwood Center neighborhood, offers a slate of holidays activities for kids and kids-at-heart including Gingerbread House parties, Saturday visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus, and new winter skating rink. Several venues will host seasonal concerts including a special reunion performance by Total Experience Gospel Choir alumni at The Manor House at Pleasant Beach Village on Thursday, December 23rd.

For a truly magical holiday experience, several special Christmas light displays will be set up including Bainbridge Island Parks’ drive through display at Fay Bainbridge Park December 9-12th, and 16-19th. No island visit would be complete without the island’s local U-Cut Christmas

Tree farms, Winter markets, breweries, and artisan wineries where visitors can enjoy fresh air and holiday fare.

With so many choices for how to experience the season, Bainbridge Island’s Lodging Association offers a wide variety of cozy overnight accommodations where you can soak up the season island-style. Individual hosts deck out their rentals in full holiday style, many with views of sparkling city lights twinkling in the distance.
