BARN to host annual community event

As part of national Indigenous Peoples’ Day on October 10, 2022, BARN (Bainbridge Artisan Resource Network) will host a Celebration Event on Bainbridge Island. This event spans two days, beginning with a drum making workshop on Sunday October 9, taught by Chief Dale Henry of Squamish Nation BC. On Monday October 10 there will be a community gathering with refreshments such as fry bread tacos by chef Shelly Price as well as a traditional welcoming song. This event is open to all. It will be followed by a screening of Honor Thy Mother: the Untold Story of Aboriginal Women and Their Indipino Children and a panel discussion of the film. The screening is free, but space is limited so registration is required.

Indigenous Peoples’ Day celebrates, recognizes, and honors the beautiful traditions and cultures of the Indigenous People, not just in America, but around the world. Their way of life and culture carries wisdom and valuable insights into how we can live life more sustainably.
