Jewelry artist Annie Huntley is the recipient of the 2011 Amy Award. Annie is a Bainbridge High School graduate who began developing her line of hand made jewelry during her travels abroad, particularly in France and Israel. Initially inspired by the local artistry and architecture in places like Paris and Tel Aviv, Annie has developed her own modern designs. Her work includes gold, silver, and brass metal, semi-precious stones, and one-of-a-kind charms and medallions that she finds throughout Europe and the Middle East. She is the designer/owner of Dotted Line and has shown her jewelry at Bainbridge Arts and Crafts for three years.

Annie credits her upbringing with an artist mother and entrepreneur father for the inspiration to eventually start her own jewelry business. “People often ask me where I get the patience to work on the small intricate details of my jewelry designs. I have so many childhood memories of my mother creating – whether it was sewing, tatting, or making lace. These experiences showed me what it meant to be creative, detailed, and work with my hands. My dad was a pilot and entrepreneur. I didn’t realize it at the time, but I learned a lot about the essential components of running a business from him – especially relationship building and risk taking.”

Today, Annie works full-time at her studio in the Wallingford neighborhood of Seattle. Beyond developing her jewelry and running her business, she loves to connect and collaborate with other artists in the community. She and her studio mate participate in the monthly neighborhood artwalk, throwing themed events and featuring the talent of other local artists.

According to Annie, “Dotted Line is a fusion of creativity, curiosity and adventure. It enables me to find a balance between two distinct voices that call simultaneously – one that desires to seek solitude and refuge in my artistic endeavors, the other that calls to head out on an extended trip in search of new materials and inspiration.”
