Arts & Humanities Bainbridge (AHB) is thrilled to announce its role as fiscal sponsors for an extraordinary new project coming to the island. Brace yourselves, as Bainbridge prepares to welcome its very own Thomas Dambo Troll, making it the first of its kind in the state of Washington.

The Friends of the Bainbridge Troll, in collaboration with numerous community partners, dedicated volunteers, and esteemed organizations such as the Scan Design Foundation and the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation, have joined forces to bring the enchanting creations of Danish artist Thomas Dambo to the island. Bainbridge is set to become one of six locations across the Pacific Northwest featuring these remarkable trolls, and the anticipation is palpable.

Each of these larger-than-life trolls is meticulously designed and crafted, incorporating elements of the natural environment, locally sourced materials, and the collective efforts of volunteers, community organizations, and recycled resources. However, these trolls are more than just whimsical sculptures; they are part of a grand narrative. The captivating tale of the NW Way of the Bird King, intertwined with art, sustainability, the environment, community, treasure hunts, volunteering, whimsy, lore, and history, promises an immersive experience that will resonate with visitors of all ages.

While the exact location of the Bainbridge Troll remains shrouded in secrecy for now, the project aims to unveil its installation by the end of August. The suspense surrounding its whereabouts only adds to the excitement, prompting the community to eagerly await the reveal of this monumental work of art.

AHB, alongside local partners such as BIMPRD, Ace Hardware, BIMA, Zero Waste, and numerous others, wholeheartedly supports the arrival of the Thomas Dambo Troll. This extraordinary project exemplifies the power of collaboration, creativity, and community spirit, showcasing Bainbridge Island’s commitment to the arts and the preservation of its natural beauty.
