Just Like the maple seeds his sculpture is inspired by, Ken McCall sees his piece “Leaf Spiral” as representative of a new beginning. “Leaf Spiral is one of my more natural, nature-affirming pieces.” Said McCall, “When they fall (maple seeds) they kind of spiral down, and they are a new start, or a new beginning.”

McCall’s public art piece “Leaf Spiral” is part of Bainbridge Island’s Something New VI program. McCall shares some of the inspiration for his work, and how he sees public art as an important form of communication.
