December 15 – Family Workshop: World Building, Together with Jessixa Bagley

Jessixa Bagley is crazy cool. It doesn’t matter whether you’re five years old or fifty, everyone can appreciate the fascinating worlds that she creates. Her children’s books remind me of my namesake, Ezra Jack Keats, with their imaginative characters and heartwarming storylines. I’m going, not solely to gain insight from a wonderful artist, but also to flex my creative muscles with the people I love.

December 8 – Silhouette Pendant Workshop

I’m always in need of some new bling, so I find no better opportunity to do so than at the Silhouette Pendant Workshop at BIMA on December 8. Rappers sign a record deal and get a chain with their name on it, I go to a workshop and make a silhouette of my face. It could also make a great gift for family or friends!

Before Christmas – Buying a Christmas ornament at Snookum

It’s a Hoonan sibling tradition to buy a new ornament every year. And our spot to do so for a while has been Snookum. They have some great ones like skiing mice and sledding bunnies. My personal favorite is a glass pickle because whoever finds the pickle ornament on the Christmas tree, gets an extra present at our house.

Winter Break – Reunion time

Even if you miss the First Friday Art Walk, there’s still a reason to peruse around downtown Bainbridge on December weekend nights. With college students returning for winter break and yuppies back on holiday, the Bainbridge bars are a great place to have a reunion with old friends and acquaintances. It’ll be just like the old days!

December 7, 21 – Photo with Santa

Think I’m too big to get a pic on Santa’s lap? Take a second guess. I’m about to be out there at Columbia Bank with my silhouette pendant hanging and holiday sweater on – getting a great picture with my favorite Scandinavian papa. All you have to do is bring a cash donation or non-perishable food, and Santa gets to take down your wish list.
