Prehistoric Dragonfly
Artist statement:
“I was inspired to create this sculpture of a Dragon Fly enlarged from life size to this monumental representation. Deciding on aluminum for the ease of bending the construction, the shine of the aluminum and for the lightweight since I want it to be in the air. Wanting the eyes to have protrusion as dragonfly eyes are, I found vintage automobile glass headlights with a half curve. I painted the inside lens with a blue glass paint for more attraction. I use Solar Lights inside of the eyes to give it an “Alive feeling” at night.” – Leon White
