“My name is Joseph Tappen. I am 14 and will be starting 9th grade at BHS this fall. I have been studying the cello with Priscilla Jones since 2013. The title of the piece I am playing is Elégie by Gabriel Fauré. An élégie is a series of poems lamenting the dead. Over the pandemic I was thinking of all the people who passed away and thought that I could play this song in memory of them. I think the music really captures the emotions of loss, grief, and anger as well as memories of happier times.” – Joseph Tappen
