No greeting, the bus is silent.
Two red shoes stumble.
She gives him fare without a word and
Sparrow-like, she perches.
No color, just harsh cold blue.
It is dark outside.
She watches the skyscrapers pass and
Doll-like, she stares.
No words, nothing she knows.
The language is odd.
She hears the short syllables and
Snail-like, confusion creeps in.
The bus stops.
Two red shoes exit into
A world of purple shadows, huge buildings
And clouds. So many clouds.
With worry, she clenches her card.
She deserves to be here.
She walks toward the hotel and
Glove-like, she is left behind.
Five years, that’s all.
She’ll be a citizen.
She sniffs the dirty air, shivers and
Explorer-like, she takes the first real step.
