THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED. BISD Multicultural Advisory Council (MAC) hosts a free community Salon Night to view the National Park Service film, Bearing the Unbearable, followed by a panel discussion.
UPDATE: As a matter of caution, this event has been canceled.
Join us to view the National Park Service film of our Bainbridge Island community story during WWII, featuring Japanese American survivors of the exclusion and their supporting neighbors. A panel discussion will follow. Learn the story our students study in school, and reflect on current issues of exclusion in our country.
Panelists: Lilly Kitamoto Kodama (survivor), Clarence Moriwaki (President of BIJAC), Mary Woodward (Author of In Defense of our Neighbors), Kevin Mahé (NPS Ranger).
Part of BISD’s 2019-2020 Salon Series. Join us to watch a film as a community & share in an open conversation. This is a free event, open to all, located at Sakai Intermediate School.
