Part five in the Bainbridge Public Library’s 2023 Great Decisions foreign affairs discussion series.
Library U's 2023 foreign affairs discussion series, GREAT DECISIONS AT THE LIBRARY, continues on Sunday, April 2, at 2 p.m. at the Bainbridge Public Library with a discusion on China and U.S. Relations.
For the past ten years, the United States and China have been locked in a competition over who has the greatest global influence. One major point of contention is the status of Taiwanese sovereignty, which has become even more relevant with the possibility that Russia's invasion of Ukraine may prompt China to take similar action regarding Taiwan. How will the United States engage a China that is increasingly seeking to expand its sphere of Influence?
While enjoying coffee and pastries, participants view a 30-minute Foreign Policy Association film on the topic and then take part in a discussion lead by David Bachman, Henry M. Jackson Professor of International Studies at the UW Jackson School.
