Raising Kind Kids: Building Emotional Literacy with Journalist Melinder Moyer

Join us for this parent education opportunity with Slate columnist Melinda Moyer. Learn how parents can foster generosity, honesty, kindness, and compassion in today’s youth. Moyer will discuss the importance of building emotional literacy, provide evidence-based ways to talk to kids about race and gender, and offer surprising insights on self-esteem, bullying, and narcissism. Moyer will help parents take advantage of their infinite opportunities to teach kids values as they grow into the caring adults we need in this world.

About the speaker: Melinda Wenner Moyer is a science and parenting journalist, writes Slate’s parenting column, The Kids, and is a contributing editor at Scientific American magazine. She also writes for the New York Times, the Washington Post, Mother Jones, Real Simple, and O: The Oprah magazine. Moyer is a visiting scholar at NYU’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute.
