As a fine art photographer, Dinah Satterwhite loves to find images that stop you in your tracks. Each one tells a story. She loves living in the Pacific Northwest, and photographing landscapes and images with vivid colors, then printing them on canvas and metal where the crisp details and colors are beautifully reproduced. Some of her work is from a series called “Into the Light,” where she paints with her camera to capture light in a somewhat surreal and very imaginative, abstract way. The goal is to combine the natural light with a sense of graceful motion. Many people think these images are acrylic paintings. Dinah manages the Bainbridge Island Studio Tour, and does commission work for individuals, businesses, magazines, and commercial projects. Raw metal is completely transformed as Rob Satterwhite work with each piece to bring out the simple beauty and inherent strength of the metal with his outdoor garden and patio sculptures. The detailed journey from rusty, crude material, involves many steps like cleaning, grinding, burning, cutting, and polishing. Tall metal fire towers, with a vine & bird pattern cut into the steel is always a favorite. His “talking crows” on a rusty metal piece is stunning in any garden setting. Metal panels have a lot of versatility with their design and placement. And his water bubblers are enchanting, with the gentle flow emerging through the top and cascading down the sides and over the cut designs, like the popular bamboo pattern. New this summer, are Rob’s aluminum plant stakes, and custom garden signs and pet memorials.
