BIMA’s smARTfilms Series: Festival Winners presents “Capernaum” (2018), Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival
Capernaum means “chaos”, and in this drama Zain, a Lebanese 12-year-old, ultimately sues his parents for the “crime” of giving him an untenable life. We follow Zain as he journeys from a gutsy, streetwise child to a more hardened young adolescent fleeing his negligent parents, surviving through his wits on the streets, where he meets an Ethiopian migrant worker and her endearing baby son. After Zain gets jailed for committing a crime, he finally seeks justice in a court of law.
