The Bainbridge Chorale presents Songs of Life and Love, a program of works that celebrate the joys and trials of the human experience, featuring the premiere of a commissioned piece, Fragile Blue, by local composer Genevieve Douglass Persen.
The Bainbridge Chorale is excited to announce the world premiere performance of a commissioned piece, Fragile Blue, by Bainbridge Island composer Genevieve Douglass Persen, for mixed choir and baroque flute. Fragile Blue was commissioned by Bainbridge Island resident Bill Booth in loving memory of his wife Beatrice (Trice) Booth for the Bainbridge Chorale. It is about a thrush who is watching her habitat change, and sings a prayer that spring will be filled with voices.
Other works in the program range from Look to the New Day by contemporary composer James Kevin Gray, subtly using harmony and dynamics to convey the comfort and drama of a sunrise, to a rousing tenor/bass arrangement by Braeden Ayres of the traditional New Zealand sea shanty Wellerman
