Visual Arts: Painting, Sculpture
How fortunate I am to be able to blend my love of hiking and nature with my skills as a Studio Impressionist. One might say it’s my evolution to becoming a Plein Air Painter. Studying nature at its purest is gold to me. Reducing the complex forms of the outdoors into simple shapes and strokes is letting the viewer fill in the blanks and form the relationship.
My focus is to create magical vivid movement in a moment of time. To execute, I use thin water soluble oils to set the mood, my palette knife for texture and bold chroma to bring out light and dark contrast. I recapture the moment in much larger studio paintings by pushing the boundaries.
Born of Russian heritage in Europe, I became influenced by the Russian Impres sionists at an early age. My artistic drive grew as I received degrees from F.I.T. and C.W. Post University in New York. After a successful career in publishing my new journey was devoted to painting, with my first official exhibit in 2013 at the Russian Cultural Center in Seattle. Since then I’ve been juried into an international show, had a few solo exhibitions and have had my work displayed in galleries and art venues thoughout the country. Though I love traveling for excit ing landscape opportunities, the Pacific Northwest calls me back. I also enjoy painting still lifes and portraits in my studio on Bainbridge Island.
I invite you to experience joy and tranquility through my paintings. Take a look at what’s new on my website, www.FatimaYoungArt.com or follow me on Instagram @ Fatimayoungart.
